According to Luo Baihui, Secretary General of the International Model Association, Guangdong is a major province in China's manufacturing industry, especially in the fields of electronics and electrical appliances IT、 The manufacturing of products such as packaging and automotive parts plays a crucial role, not only driving the development of Guangdong's mold industry, but also promoting the development of China's mold industry. China is a major country in mold manufacturing, with a mold industry output value of approximately 1.8 trillion yuan, ranking first in the world's mold industry.

The transformation and upgrading of China's mold industry has gone through different stages

The manufacturing industry in China has entered a period of transformation, and the mold industry has also entered a new era of transformation and upgrading. In the 1980s, mold manufacturing technology and processing equipment were mainly introduced from developed countries abroad, with a focus on molds for household appliances, daily necessities, packaging, and other products. During this period, the most crucial thing was the restructuring of state-owned mold enterprises, while private enterprises flourished.

In the early 1990s, Chinese mold companies digested, absorbed, and innovated on the basis of introducing technology, basically meeting the development of domestic manufacturing industry. In the late 1990s, China provided tax incentives to the mold industry, which effectively supported its development.

After 2000, the Chinese mold industry encountered new problems, such as increased production capacity and severe homogenization competition; The entire industry lacks investment in technological development, and there is a shortage of R&D personnel. High end mold technology still relies on foreign imports. After 2010, China's entire mold industry entered a new round of transformation and upgrading, with continued adjustments to the industrial structure and enhanced innovation capabilities of enterprises.

The rapid development of automotive molds has led to mold exports surpassing imports

Especially plastic mold companies have shifted their business focus from electronics and electrical appliances to automotive molds. This adjustment has transferred some of our excess production capacity, and another prominent feature is the rapid development of China's mold exports.   By 2012, China's mold exports reached 3.7 billion US dollars, digesting production capacity of about 23 billion yuan.

Transformation and upgrading are the only way for the mold industry to become bigger and stronger

Due to the constraints of the global economy, the Chinese mold industry has been in a stage of medium to low growth in recent years. Luo Baihui pointed out that only continuous transformation and upgrading is the only way for the mold industry to become bigger and stronger. The transformation of the mold industry from large to strong is a systematic project, with two key aspects to focus on: firstly, accelerating the transformation of development mode, emphasizing quality and efficiency, and achieving both good and fast development; The second is to adhere to technological progress, promote industrial upgrading, and meet the new requirements of the manufacturing industry for molds.
